Dude Ranch is the second studio album of Blink-182, released on June 17, 1997, by MCA Records, making it their major record label debut. MCA Records signed the band in 1996 following the success of their debut album Cheshire Cat and their rising popularity in Australia. The album would also be their last recording with Scott Raynor, who was fired from the band the following year. The album was produced by Mark Trombino at Big Fish Studios in Encinitas, California. All tracks are written by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Scott Raynor.

The album was met with great success, spearheaded by the single "Dammit", which became a rock radio hit, boosting the group's credibility. The band toured exhaustively on the Vans Warped Tour, which led to tension and eventually to Raynor's firing in 1998. Three more singles were released, "Apple Shampoo", "Dick Lips", and "Josie", and also gained radio airplay.
